Square 1 Financial Credit Analyst (SBCLG) Pacific Western Bank - (Escondido, CA) in Escondido, California

The primary purpose of this position is to field, analyze, process and maintain Small Business Lines of Credit and Business Lines of Credit within the Small Business and Consumer Lending Group. Secondary purpose is to provide servicing action support for routine transactions that are needed within the loan portfolio managed by the Small Business Group.


This position requires the SBCLG Credit Analyst to know and understand the Small Business Credit Line and Business Credit Line program in terms of credit criteria, terms and conditions of the products, underwriting criteria, application processing, the qualification worksheet, exceptions for approval, adverse action processing, loan file preparation, loan documentation processing, customer service and general maintenance of the lines.

The SBCLG Credit Analyst will process applications for the SBCL and BCL loan products, working with applicants and branch personnel to ensure application packages are complete, analyze the data provided in the application by following established qualification worksheet, reviewing credit reports, investigate bankruptcies as needed, perform analyses of data that could influence approval or decline, obtain proper approval for both passing and failing applications through nCino, and complete either adverse action or loan documentation process. This position will also be responsible for annual renewal of outstanding SBCL and BCL loans.

The SBCLG Credit Analyst will also be responsible for routine servicing actions as needed within the loan portfolios maintained by the Small Business team, including but not limited to: Payment Due Date Changes, entity changes and the like. This position reports to the VP/Assistant Group Manager and in addition to the primary duties, will perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.


  • 3 to 5 years working in a Banking environment

  • Experience with basic commercial and consumer credit analysis in a banking environment

  • Familiarity with regulatory environment for commercial lending

  • Computer skills including Word and Excel

  • Excellent organizational, written and communication skills

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Self-starter and ability to work in a fast-paced, team setting
