Every summer girls arrive at Girl Scouts San Diego summer camps excited for new adventures, fun, and making lifelong memories. Campers can experience two unique camps in the beautiful mountains of Julian, CA.
Camp Winacka - A unique rustic camp that features traditional camp activities with specialty programs including swimming, equestrian and high adventure programs, environmental education and arts and crafts. Campers and staff sleep in open air cabins, platform tents or on cots under the stars.
Camp Whispering Oaks - Features arts and crafts, a sport field, basketball court, challenge course, and astronomy programming. Campers and staff enjoy modern cabins with bunk beds and electricity.
Kitchen Staff - Shift Leads are an integral part of the kitchen team and assist the kitchen manager in planning, preparing and serving nutritious, well-balanced meals for campers and staff.
Assist kitchen manager and head cook in planning, preparing and serving all camp meals.
Assist in training and supporting dishwashers.
Records, inventories and processes requisitions, as needed.
Oversees meal time procedures, managing time and tasks during meal times.
Ensures awareness, sensitivity and diligence with camper and staff food allergies and special diets.
Assists with cleaning, food preparation and dishwashing, as assigned.
Help to prepare, plate and serve all camp meals as directed; assist in preparation of food as menu indicates, including washing, chopping and peeling.
Assists in the preparation and packaging of food for use outside of the dining hall.
Ensures awareness, and sensitivity and diligence of campers’ food allergies or special diets.
Observe all safety precautions and ensure compliance with all council health and safety rules and procedures.
Attend all staff meetings as required
Perform other duties as assigned

These seasonal positions begin June 11th and end August 18, 2018. Possibility to continue working weekends throughout the year.
Experience and Skills:
At least 18 years of age
At least one year of training or experience in the food service industry, specializing in meal preparation and production preferred
Current Food Handler’s Certificate, or ability to obtain certification (training/testing provided at camp).
Training or experience in purchase and storage of food, and meal planning that meets nutritional needs of campers.
Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification before start date
Access to reliable transportation for own transport to camp in Julian, CA
Submit health history record prior to first day of work
Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with campers, camp staff, and volunteers, and work well in a team environment.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift, reach, push, pull, work with fingers, grasp, feel, talk, hear and perform repetitive motions.
