This position reports to a senior manager and is responsible for the planning, managing, and technical performance of a Quality Assurance (QA) program. Manages all phases of assigned Software QA programs and/or projects including developing, evaluating, implementing, and monitoring quality management policies, principles and standards, such as ISO-9000 or similar quality systems, to ensure compliance with customer/product standards and governmental regulatory requirements. Typically accomplishes objectives through subordinate management and/or team leaders. May be responsible for decisions that impact outcomes where erroneous decisions could cause serious schedule delays and expenditure of additional time and resources.

Essential Functions

  • Manage Software QA activities including planning,implementing, and monitoring technicalperformance to ensure quality and financialobjectivesare attained.

  • Develop and implementdefined and specificstandards,methods, and proceduresforinspecting, and evaluating the precision, accuracy, and reliabilityofcompany products.

  • Perform statisticalanalysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibilityfor, products or materials that donotmeet required standardsandspecifications.

  • AlignQA program for the unit(s)with the corporate QA internal and external audit program,correctiveactionsystem,QualityAssurance Records Center,maintenance of QA manuals and procedures,QA policies and procedures, measuring and testequipmentcalibration program, and inspectionlaboratories.

  • Audit quality systemsfordeficiencyidentification and correction.Investigateissues and developinnovative and practical solutions to technicalandqualityproblems ensuring that corrective measuresmeetacceptable reliabilitystandards.

  • Mayparticipate in reviewing engineering designs to contribute qualityrequirements and considerations.

  • Participatewithmanagement to developandimplement current and annualtechnical,schedule,quality, and financialobjectivesfor the QA program to ensure strategic business objectives are met. May alsoparticipate in the developmentof annual andlong-termobjectives for the organization.

  • Ensure technicalleadershipandexcellence is maintained by managing and participating in theplanning, attraction, selection,retention,anddevelopment of the requiredmanagement,professional, and technicaltalent.

  • May actas a QA spokespersonwithline management,program managers,technicalstaff, and outside representatives.

  • Manage the development of and ensure the security of proprietary technologywhilemaintainingthestrictconfidentiality ofsensitive information.

  • Responsibleforensuringalllaws, regulations and other applicableobligationsareobservedwherever and whenever business is conductedon behalf of the Company. Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safemanner in accordance withestablishedoperating procedures and practices.

Additional Functions

  • In some business units, resolves, communicates and tracks non-conformance, material rejection and corrective action reports and chairs material review board. May also conduct vendor qualification examinations.

  • Oversee the development and implementation of Software Quality Assurance Program Plans.

  • Oversee proposal and estimating activities on software quality projects. Evaluates and recommends improvements to software quality proposal and estimating activities.

Job Qualifications:

  • Requires a BachelorsorMasters in engineering or a relatedtechnicalfield and elevenormoreyears of progressivelycomplexQAexperiencewith at leastfive of those years having managementresponsibilities.May substitute equivalentexperience in lieu of education.

  • Must demonstrate a detailed and extensiveworkingknowledge and understanding of QAprinciples,concepts,theories,regulationsandpractices;knowledgeof ISO 9000, CMMI, IEEE 12207, or similarsystems or standards;andleadershipskillsincludingorganizing,planning,schedulingandcoordinatingworkloadstomeetestablished deadlines andmilestones.

  • Must possess (1) the ability to resolvecomplextechnicalandmanagementissues;(2)strongverbalandwrittencommunicationskills to accuratelydocument, report andpresentfindings;and, (3) stronginterpersonalskills to effectivelyinterfacewithalllevels of employees,management and outside representatives.

  • Must be able to work on a self-initiatedbasis and in a teamenvironment, and be able to work extended hours andtravelas required.

  • ASQ CSQE or CQE preferred, aerospace experience preferred.
